A/N: Sorry it has taken me so long to update! Oh and soccerchic91588 deserves major credit for helping me get over my writers block on this particular story. THANK YOU!!!
Chapter 3: “A Perfect Hostess”
“Hey guys, where do ya think (Your first name) and Tea are?” Tristan asks as he shoots at one of the evil elves that is attacking his knight.
“I dunno, ya tink she’s still mad at ma?” Joey’s accent cut in before Yugi could answer Tristan’s question, he and Joey were playing air hockey, but his friend’s mind wasn’t on the game, no, it was on their new friend.
“Relax Joey, I’m sure she’s over it, (Your first name) doesn’t seem to be the type to hold grudges.” Yugi reassures him.
“Why don’t we go look for ‘em? I mean this mansion can’t be as big as it looks right?” Tristan suggests as he loses his game.
“Yeah, sure, why not?” Yugi agrees with a cheerful smile on his face. (a/n: Cheerful smile…that’s a bit redundant don’t ya think? Lol.)
“Alrighty, but if we get caught, I’m blamin’ ya guys!” Joey agrees.
“Didn’t she mention something about a dress fitting or something at lunch this afternoon?” Tristan puts in.
“Let’s just check this floor and the one above it first and then we can check a floor below, I think it’s safe to say she’s on one of them.” Yugi exclaims as he walks out of the arcade and stares down the big hallway, as Tristan and Joey follow after him.
*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*
“You mean it’s almost finished?” Tea, for lack of a better word, squeals to you as she looked over her dress. It isn’t as fancy as yours is but it is pretty darn well cool and she loves it.
“Yes, it’s almost finished, while we’re waiting let’s go hunt down Joey, Tristan and Yugi, okay?” You suggest completely forgetting you’re still wearing your red gown.
Unfortunately Tea didn’t remember to mention it either, “Yeah okay, didn’t you say they were at a mini-arcade or something that you had in your house?”
“Yes, that’s where they should be anyways.” You respond as you follow Tea out of the fitting room, telling Madam Janika that you would check on the dress in a few hours.
“So where is this gaming room? Do you have a DDR machine?” Tea fires rapidly asked questions at you as you walk towards a grand staircase that led to the third floor, which occupied the gaming room, swimming pool and the ballroom.
“No we have an air hockey table and foosball table and the rest are video games. The gaming room is on the third floor along with the rest of the leisure activity rooms and a few guest bedrooms.” You answer her quietly as you reach the bottom of the staircase and turn into a hallway.
*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*
“Do ya tink d’ere on da second floor, Yug?” Joey wonders as he and his friends approach a large staircase, the same one you and Tea had come down earlier. The grand staircase went all through the mansion, up and down every floor.
“I’m not sure Joey, why don’t we look and then go back to the game room – maybe Tea and (Your first name) came to find us.” Yugi suggests as he looks down the long reeling staircase coated in royal red carpet.
“Not likely, but maybe,” Tristan conceded to Yugi’s theory.
“Well den, let’s check down ‘ere and den go back to da game room.” Joey took the first steps down the gigantic staircase and was followed closely by his friends.
Of course, sadly for Joey, he was the first to go down the stairs, and therefore the first to run into a rather stern looking man.
“Uh..” Joey stood there as his friends joined him, feeling quite awkward. "Do ya know where (your first name) is?"
“Who are you?” The man asked, his brows furrowed as he inspected the teens in front of him.
“We’re (Your first name)’s friends – she and Tea went somewhere and we’re looking for them. I think (Your first name) said she had a dress fitting or something…” Yugi trails off quietly starring heartily at the floor under the man’s harsh gaze.
“I see. Well, I should expect better of you then to wander around other peoples houses without permission. Then again, (Your first and second name) shouldn’t leave her guests by themselves. Hmph. Follow me. I’ll find (Your first and second name) and you three can come sit in the parlor. Then we can resolve all of this.” The man is looking more displeased by the second as his professional tone takes a turn for the worst.
“Excuse me, Sir, but who are you?” Yugi ventures in a mouse like voice.
“I am Mr. (your last name), CEO of Uzenbi Technologies.” The man’s voice booms with pride.
“Oh!” Yugi squeaks – obviously still trying to get over the way the man had acted earlier.
“So you’re (your first name)’s father, den? It’s nice ta meet ya! I’m Joey Wheeler, and dis is Tristan Taylor and Yugi Mutou.” Joey introduces cheerfully obviously not swayed by Mr. (last name)’s mood – or he just wants to make a good impression. Most likely the second of the two.
“Hm.” Mr. (your last name) grunts, obviously still not too please with finding a bunch of complete strangers wandering around his household.
The four reach the end of the staircase and start to walk down a hallway and enter a gigantic blue room. The walls are a light sky blue and the carpet is navy, the furniture is furnished dark cedar wood (tables) and the chairs are a beautiful satin electric blue. The fire place is made of bricks and has a glass cage around it too keep the flames from shooting out.
“Wow…” Tristan’s eyes trace the room in awe.
“You can say dat again.” Joey replies to his friend’s comment.
“You three sit down here, and don’t touch anything.” Mr. (Last name) says sternly as he turns to a maid who is currently dusting the china on the fireplace mantle. “Where is my daughter?”
“I believe she had a dress fitting, this afternoon sir.”
“Go and bring her down here now.”
“Yes sir.” The house cleaner drops into a quick bow and runs out of the room rag and all.
“So how do you three know (Your first and second names)?” The balding man turns to the three boys.
“School, sir. We’re her friends from school.” Tristan puts in seeing that Joey and Yugi are off in their own little worlds.
“I see.” Mr. (last name) nodds – whether it is an approving nod Tristan cannot tell.
*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*
“Miss (your last name), Miss (Your last name), your father requests an audience with you in the sitting room right away and your friend should come along too.” A maid runs into the room and hurriedly speaks to you as she glances over at Tea who is watching her dress being made with interest.
“Alright, Genevieve, we’re coming.” You reply as the made scurries out of the room – obviously she has a lot of work to do or she would have escorted you, you think as you turn to Tea. “Tea, my father wants an audience with us – we’ve got to hurry. Generally an audience with my father in the middle of the day isn’t good….usually he’s hauled up in his office…” You trail off as she walks over to you.
“But don’t you want to take off your dress, (your first name)?” Tea inquires looking you over. Your hair isn’t done, but all the same you look rather dazzling.
“No, we don’t have the time. What can it hurt to keep it on anyways? Let’s just go.” You reply dragging your friend out of the room, whilst telling Janika you will be back in about an hour.
“An hour? This’ll take an hour?” Tea sounds slightly surprised and kind of freaked you note.
“No, I just need to get out of that room for a while,” You tell her as you both run down the stairs towards the parlor. “I wonder what my father wants…”
You and Tea reach the bottom of the staircase as you walk down a hallway and enter the all blue room.
“Joey, Yugi, Tristan?” Tea blurts out.
“’Ey guys!” Joey grins and waves at you guys and then his eyes fall to your dress. “Whoa…”
“Nice dress, (your first name).” Yugi compliments.
“Thank you.” You nod, as your immediate formalities shield goes up.
“You called sir?” You question.
“Yes, I would like to ask you something.”
“Yes sir?” You call you father sir, around others because it is general politeness, whether you are his daughter or not. Though it would seem your friends don’t get this, as they look rather lost.
“Your friends were wandering around the house. What have I told you about guests?”
You sigh and look over to them, “I must always be with them and be entertaining them – I must be a good hostess and not reflect badly on the company in any way, shape or form. I’m sorry Sir, it won’t happen again.”
“See that it doesn’t.”
“George…Geor –” A woman known to be your mother enters the room, looking for your father obviously. She stares around at the lot of you, “(Your full name), why are you in that dress and running around the house in it at that! It neither polite nor lady-like, go and change now!”
“But Mother, I –”
“None of your excuses! Go and change; I will see to your guests until then.” She commands as you shrug towards Tea who is giving you an ‘I told you so’ look and the boys who are giving you extremely weirded out looks. You then walk out of the room and up the staircase towards your bedroom.
*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*
You go up to your room and shuffle through the door, closing it behind you. You then go up to your walk in closet and look through it for an outfit your mother would deem, appropriate for entertaining guests. You finally come up with an outfit as you take off the dress and carefully lay it on the bed.
The outfit consists of black dressy, ankle length skirt, a long sleeved and plain burgundy sweater (with a beautiful silk black tank top underneath) as well as some black high heeled shoes – which you hated; they killed when you stood in them for too long. You put on some knee-socks under the skirt as you mounted yourself onto the high-heels of doom after putting on the rest of your outfit.
You then brushed your hair and left it to cascade naturally down your shoulders with a plain burgundy head band on it. You took one last look in the mirror as you walked out your door, closing it behind you.
*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*
“So you are (your first name)’s friends?” Your mother smiled – obviously not knowing her daughter’s friends were mostly boys.
“Yes, I’m Tea Gardner, and this is Tristan Taylor, Yugi Mutou, and Joey Wheeler, it’s a pleasure to meet you ma’am.” Tea introduced politely.
It is at this moment that you mentally groan, as you hear her while entering the parlor. Laying it on kind of think isn’t she? Well, at least she isn’t embarrassing me, that I can be thankful for! You smile at the thought as you mother nods at your entrance, obviously approving of the outfit chosen and the smile you are wearing.
“I take it you’ve met my friends mother?” You question, although you already know the answer. You’re just hoping she hasn’t spilled about the Moon Ball yet, or Tea hasn’t.
“Yes dear I have.”
You turn to your friends, “Would you all like to stay for dinner?” You swivel around and face your mother (not an easy feet in high heeled shoes), “Mother, we’re going out at six, so of course they can stay for dinner, right?”
“Yes, absolutely dear.” You mother replies, although you can tell you’ve done something wrong when she gives you a private glare. She knew you had trapped her into answering yes.
You have asked your friends and then asked her permission after inviting them and in front of them as well. Your mother can’t very well say know or she can be called beyond hypocritical for all the manners speeches she has given you, and then there’s the fact that you’ve already invited them.
I am in for a big lecture later, you remind yourself mentally cringing as you keep a small smile plastered on your face and begin to make small talk with your ‘friends’. It was going to be a looooong evening.
A/n: I’m sorry this chapter turned out to be really, really short, it’s just that I ran out of things that were supposed to happen in this chapter and I didn’t want to prolong it or it would’ve turned out horribly. At any rate, besides the shortness of this chapter, I’d like your opinions and comments so please review.
